At the last minute, i want to make some changes to my predictions:
i have this listed under “Good Chance”
Announcement (though probably not availability) of a new Airport More-Extremer 802.11N Router to support iTV, and possibly a sideways remark about awaiting the standard to be ratified.
I will at this point upgrade it to Most Likely Will Happen, and availability coinciding with the release of the (code named) iTV.
8-core Mac Pros will join the Probably Will Happen, upgraded from “Good Chance“, due to the Intel “Core 2 Quad Q6600” Announcement at CES.
Finally (and i blame my change of mind on the Wall Street Journal) the iPhone is upgraded a step from “The Possibility Exists” to “Good Chance”
:)
I’ll be revisiting and evaluating my original predictions, these are just last minute thoughts.
I’m excited about tomorrow morning. See you then!
I’m going to jump into the fray and offer up my predictions. It’ll be nice to have a record of how well i do.
These are my Macworld 2007 predictions, but also my 2007-in-general predictions: i’m open to any of these happening anytime throughout the year. :) Please keep in mind: this is total speculation. You know how this works.
Absolutely Will Happen (100%)
- More information about Leopard, potentially an announcement of availability date. Definitely some new “secret features” to be shown off.
- iWork and iLife ’07
- Very Good Looking Sales Figures (in the face of plenty of bad press concerning money and legal troubles)
- Incremental Hardware refreshes and spec-bumps – I’m looking at you, iMac.
- Demonstration of Adobe’s CS3 (finally) on a MacPro
- Demonstration of a working iTV, final product name (Airport Video?), availability date
- We’ll be given some sort of information about the state of the stand-alone iSight.
- Mention of The Beatles on iTS [added 1.6.07]

I’ve just completed a much needed facelift. I’ll avoid calling it a redesign, because it’s primarily the same, but the colors are more pleasant, readability is improved (slightly) and graphics have been changed. Otherwise it’s basically the same layout.
Hope you enjoy the small improvements anyway.
cheers!
Aaron Adams makes his case for Apple releasing a VoIP phone (if anything) instead of a true mobile phone. I like what he’s written, but i have to disagree with one point he makes.
In all my reading of Apple cell phone proponents, I haven’t seen many (any?) specifics. The phone will be “better”. It will be “easier to use”. It will be integrated with the iPod. That’s all fine and dandy, but what does it mean?
His analysis holds up pretty well, though i think there are a few compelling concepts that would make a so-called “iPhone” a possibility.
As it stands, the mobile handset market is a mess. There are many phones that do many things, some even do a few things well, but as a whole, the hardware and software available are “good enough” at best. Hardware design has gotten better, but is still messy. Software design has gotten more flashy, but basic usability is still far from good.

You can read Michael Kanello’s full Cnet article here: http://news.com.com/2010-1041_3-6141607.html?part=rss&tag=2547-1_3-0-5&subj=news
Apple is slated to come out with a new phone. Reports say that it will have a slide-out keyboard, 4GB or 8GB of storage, and work on CDMA or GSM cellular networks. It will start at $249 before subscription rebates.
And it will largely fail.
I think it’s funny that he uses the term “slated” as opposed to “rumored.” …there is a very big difference there. paraphrasing John Gruber of daringfireball.net, predicting a flop for a product that hasn’t even been announced yet may be the first sign that Kanello is a jackass.
